This week’s seed 🌱: Duality as a path to greater interconnectedness
The compost 🪱: The Lovers
In college I took a class on Sufism, the mystical branch of Islam. I remember learning about one school of thought that taught the idea that God created duality in order to teach us oneness. This concept in Sufism is a lot more nuanced and complicated than I can explain, but this idea has been on my mind recently.
This week, we find this eternal relationship between duality and oneness in The Lovers. At face value, this card offers us an image of two people, being blessed and perhaps even united by a divine entity. Like the card shows, it can signal a love currently in or coming into your life. But this card is also about you and your place in the world.
Each of us has a blueprint of how we love, shaped by our childhoods, our parents and caregivers, our lovers, friends, the world around us. We have our triggers, the ways we love conditionally and unconditionally, the ways we chase and hide from love. The Lovers remind us that we have agency in how we choose to show up for love—and that everyone is a mirror.
