🌱You’ve stumbled upon a portal of healing. Will you enter?
This week, The Star comes in like Marry Poppins to fix our broken family (jk but kind of)
Welcome to the Greenhouse 🌱 where we plant seeds for the week ahead with a tarot reading, a digital altar, and more! Consider this your digital quiet place to exhale, read, and nourish your busy lil brain to ground you for the upcoming week. Maybe we’ll bask in the sun a little, too (wearing SPF, of course!) So if you haven’t already, please consider upgrading your subscription!
This week’s seed 🌱: Healing is a spiral that touches everyone around you
The compost 🪱: The Star
Rejoice! Our card this week is The Star! I’ve pulled this card at least four times this week so I guess it’s no surprise y’all were meant to feel it, too. And thank goddess for that because we could all use some Star energy—or at least, I could use some star energy.
I get the sense that there is a lot going on in people’s lives right now. Many of us have been hit with curveballs, pushed into circumstances we didn’t expect that aren’t really where we want to be, etc. Maybe the chaos is clear and visible all around you, or maybe you can feel it bubbling beneath the surface. This makes sense, given the state of the world.
Personally, I was laid off in September and have yet to find a new job. And yes, I’ve been applying to jobs like it’s my job. I’ve gotten one interview (that didn’t go anywhere) and a stack of rejection letters haunting my inbox. I also have to find a new place to live by the end of June, and the thought of moving without a steady stream of income feels… logistically impossible and induces a deep feeling of anxiety (I’m sure you can imagine). I share this not to elicit your pity or paint myself as a victim (I am certainly not), but to remind you that if you are experiencing uncertainty and insecurity, you are not alone. And that is the beauty of The Star.
This card is the epitome of healing energy, and she reminds us that our individual journeys through healing inevitably bump into someone else’s, and theirs bumps into someone else’s, and so and so on until the entire collective feels those echoes of healing and integration. The Star embodies every good vibe, everything that has ever loved you, everything that wants to nurture you. The only catch is that you have to show up with your arms open to receive it.
This week, as you navigate your own chaos and ups and downs, I want you to spend a little time thinking about how far you’ve come. If I was out of a job and home six years ago, I probably would have turned to my eating disorder, cigarettes, and negative self talk to manage my anxiety. Now, I have much healthier ways to cope with my stress, like actually sitting with how I feel, going for a run, and spending my down time working on passion projects. It also helps that I have an adorable, loving toddler who reminds me every day how loved I am, and how much I matter and belong in this world.
The Star opens a portal for us this week, and it’s up to you to walk in or not. Healing isn’t just taking a bath with a glass of wine and posting it on IG. It’s interrupting your own behavior that keeps you small or feels destructive; it’s treating yourself gently when you’re down bad; it’s saying no to people and patterns that don’t love and nurture you; it’s compassionately engaging with your own humanity so that you can be a force of good for humanity at large.
So go forth and ladle yourself a bowl of soup made with stardust, cherry blossoms, and that warm feeling you get when you hear good news. Go out of your way to do something kind for a neighbor or loved one, and then go out of your way to do something kind for yourself. Be open to signs from the universe that you are indeed on your perfect path. Find a social cause that opens your heart (there are plenty) and take one action toward supporting your fellow humans. Think of your loved ones who have passed away, tell them you love them, and put their favorite food out for them while you ask them to fortify you with the courage to choose your highest good.
The water 💧: A digital altar for the week ahead
The glass 🪞: Outer wisdom
Read: This article about an Irish man’s 14-year journey turning a barren hillside into a showcase of biodiversity and climate action. This level of commitment to healing the land is very Star energy.
Watch: This mushroom timelapse. Mushrooms do so much to ensure the preservation and thriving of their environments. We stan!
Listen: Life Goes On by Agust D. This song is such a beautiful and heartbreaking reminder that moments—bad and good—are temporary, and that making meaningful connections with other humans is the best way to carry this knowledge—because we’re all in the same boat.
The sunshine ☀️: Some levity
