Welcome to the Greenhouse 🌱 where we plant seeds for the week ahead with a tarot reading and more! Consider this your digital quiet place to exhale, read, and nourish your busy lil brain to ground you for the upcoming week. Maybe we’ll bask in the sun a little, too (wearing SPF, of course!) So if you haven’t already, please consider upgrading your subscription!

This week’s seed 🌱: Resources are allies; gather and wield them with intention

The compost 🪱: The Four of Pentacles

This week’s card is the Four of Pentacles, often associated with hoarding and stinginess, which, in some contexts, reads true. But my interpretation of it this week, as we head into the Winter solstice, is not so.

The Winter solstice marks the darkest day of the year, and in some traditions, is the first day of Winter. This season is a time for hunkering down, bringing our loved ones and resources close to us, and entering a time of reflection. Winter is a time for deep rest and deep connection. We need this period of slowing down for integration: to allow all that happened to us and for us during the year to settle in, to continue altering our brains and bodies so we know exactly where we are starting from as we head into the New Year.

The Four of Pentacles from the Rider-Waite tarot deck.

In this context, the Four of Pentacles becomes a reminder to root down. It asks us what we need in order to feel well-resourced throughout these Winter days. That could be money, but it could also be nourishing meals, social connection, therapy, meditation, a body movement practice, boundaries, laughter, saying no to taking on any more projects… anything you feel you need to support you during this cold and dark time.
